Luka Jovic turning out to be transfer market darling
Benfica loanee and current Eintracht Frankfurt forward Luka Jovic is turning out to be a transfer market darling for next window. The 20-year-old Serbian star is making name for himself and have already been linked with several top clubs in Europe.
He is earning accolades from everywhere and clubs like FC Barcelona, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich are chasing him. It seems like Bosnia & Herzegovina born star is going to give a very good competition to Genoa forward Krzyisztof Piatek, who is enjoying a similar form playing in Italian Serie A.
Jovic has scored 12 goals in 15 appearances for Frankfurt this season with three assists as well. He has scored 9 goals and provided 3 assists in nine Bundesliga game for Frankfurt this season. He even scored five goals in one game against Dusseldorf.
It’s a fascinating statistics for a 20-year-old player. The world is going crazy for him. Sky Germany’s Alexander Bonengel says as Sky Sports reports, “He has shown his potential from the beginning. Eintracht Frankfurt knew they had a rough diamond that may need some time to develop and more than just on technical level.”
Bonengel adds, “Jovic has shown a significant improvement in work ethic and attitude and has learnt to work for the whole team if he wants them to work for them. He also has strong moments in his first season that increased his self confidence. He now has more playing time in connection with his strongest attitude to work and training that has helped him to score more consistently.”
Jovic has scored 8 goals in his 22 appearances for Frankfurt last season which included a crucial goal against Schalke in DFB Pokal semifinal. However, he only made nine starts during his first season for Frankfurt, other 13 appearances came as substitute.
Frankfurt forward has been a revelation this season. He has already scored 9 goals. Currently, he is Bundesliga’s highest goal scorer ahead of Marco Reus (8), Robert Lewandowski (7), and Timo Werner (6). He is currently averaging a goal every 62 minutes his first goal only came at the end of September against Hannover.
His former teammate, Kevin-Prince Boateng, who currently plays for Sassuolo in Italy, also praises him. Boateng told Sport Bild, “There are critics but they see Luka Jovic play only once a week on Saturday. I have seen him every day and can therefore say that he can become a world class striker because he has everything for it. This is what you see in training: He has football in his genes, he is a street footballer. And he is a great goal scorer. Luka heads very well, right or left. He has good technique and giant shots with both feet. He just has everything a striker needs.
Before Luka Jovic grabbed headline, Genoa striker Krzysztof Piatek was earning the same impression. He has scored 9 Serie A goals in his first 7 appearances before facing goal droughts in his last five games. But, his 4 goals in Coppa Italia debut against Lecce still gives him a good statistics with 13 goals in total from 13 appearances overall for Genoa.
Jovic definitely has got a good competition in Piatek. But there is no doubt, he is transfer market darling right now. Besides them, there are players like Jadon Sancho, Christian Pulisic, Matthijs De Ligt, and Frenkie De Jong who is going to cost a fortune to the acquiring club.
