Kylian Mbappe’s potential €180 million transfer move to Real Madrid will replace Paul Pogba as most expensive player in football history. Pogba arrived at Manchester United last season in a €105 million transfer deal with Juventus, but it’s AS Monaco’s teenage kid Mbappe seems to be the one who will grab the headlines in this transfer window.

Spanish daily Marca reports, “Real Madrid has agreed a €180 million deal with Monaco for Kylian Mbappe. His fee will split down to €160 million upfront with €20 million worth of add-ons. His €20 million add-ons pay may increase to €30 million as well.”

Monaco demanded €190 million, but Real Madrid’s consecutive Uefa Champions League winner coach Zinedine Zidane helped the club president Florentino Perez & general director Jose Angel Sanchez to twist the offer with variable pays.

Real Madrid have lost their bench strength losing out Alvaro Morata to Chelsea and offering James Rodriguez on loan to Bayern Munich. They needed someone upfront to fill in the boots of BBC (Bale, Benzema, Cristiano), if they got injured. The 18-year-old kid from Principality Club has proved himself as a player who is destined to play in clubs like Real Madrid, and Los Blancos are ready to sign him as their new Galactico.

This is presidential election year for Florentino Perez and he needed to sign a Galactico star. Mbappe fits right in the bill and they have a heavy purse after selling Morata to Chelsea and loaning Rodriguez to Bayern Munich.

If PSG able to convince Neymar to land at Parc des Princes, it may outshine Mbappe deal. But, it’s very less likely to happen and Mbappe is going to seal the most expensive player of the season deal. PSG were also trying to buy Mbappe, but Monaco didn’t want to sell their jewel to a direct rival.
