Real Madrid is hunting for their future stars and Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi is their top target. Real knows that they need a makeover in their forward department considering the age of Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Icardi is only 24-year-old and he has impressed at Internazionale this season. The Argentine international has scored 15 Serie A goals in 14 appearances. He leads the Nerazzurri squad from front wearing captain’s armband.
He is already locked with Inter till 2021, which includes a buyout clause of €100m and club is ready to extend his offer till 2023. But, Real Madrid is trying to lure the Argentine player to make a move to Santiago Bernabeu.
Marca reports, “As the winter transfer window approaches, Real Madrid are considering reinforcing their frontline and Inter star Mauro Icardi tops the list of the forwards who have attracted Los Blancos’ interest.”
However, clubs like Manchester United and Manchester City will also be bidding for Icardi. It will be a tough battle between the Europe’s top sides to acquire an in-form striker in Italy’s top division. Icardi himself has ruled out speculations of his transfer move to Madrid telling the media that he is happy at Inter Milan, but his performances will decide his future.
If a transfer doesn’t take place in January transfer window, a lot will depend upon Inter Milan’s qualification into the Uefa Champions League next season. Inter Milan’s qualification in Europe’s elite competition will put an end to his transfer speculation in summers next season and Real Madrid will have to look elsewhere to find their future star.
