Alisson Becker is hours away from becoming most expensive shot-stopper
AS Roma’s Alisson Becker is only hours away from becoming most expensive shot-stopper in the world. The Brazilian goalkeeper €75 million move to Liverpool is imminent after going through a medical in England on Thursday morning.
Italian author Gianluca Di Marzio reports, “Alisson-Liverpool is only missing the official announcement. After passing his medical visits, the Brazilian goalkeeper is set to sign his contract with Liverpool with his agent. It’s €75 million plus bonuses included.”
8 – Alisson conceded 28 league goals last season (excl. OGs), but based on Opta xG data for the shots on target he’s faced, the average goalkeeper would’ve been expected to concede 36 goals. This was the biggest differential by a Serie A goalkeeper in 2017-18 (8). Coveted. pic.twitter.com/g8MW47pNLZ

Alisson was linked with many big clubs in latest transfer window. He was linked with Real Madrid, Chelsea, PSG, and Manchester United. There were reports that Brazilian no.1 will be moving to Real Madrid as priority signing. Otherwise, Chelsea could go for his services if Thibaut Courtois is offered to Real Madrid. Manchester United’s David De Gea links to Real Madrid also made Becker’s transfer rumour to Manchester United, but in the end it’s Liverpool who wins the race.
Liverpool were looking to grab the best out there in that department after Loris Karius’ howler in Champions League final, and Roma have already provided their list of negotiations. They knew that Becker is their best bet this summer who can fetch millions and their Sporting Director Monchi is already ready with his options.
Roma signed Antonio Mirante from Bologna and Daniel Fuzato from Palmeiras as Alisson’s replacement. How fit they’ll be in Alisson’s shoe, only time will tell, but Monchi is quite used to dealing with his big loses. He thinks that anyone can be replaced in a team, and he never shy away from selling a player who earns good money for the club.
