Mohamed Salah strikes hat-trick to take Liverpool on top of Premier League table
Mohamed Salah has suffered a lot of criticism this season after having a great debutante last season. Some says he hasn’t been his best, but he shuts everyone’s mouth with his hat-trick performance when Liverpool really needed him to be in-form. Egyptian Messi strikes hat-trick against Bournemouth in 4-0 victory to take Liverpool on top of Premier League table.
Liverpool really needed his best man to be back in form. A victory over Bournemouth took them on top of Premier League table and it will also put a psychological pressure on Manchester City who will battle against Chelsea later tonight.
Reds also needed their main man in-form knowing they have a crucial fixture coming in UEFA Champions League. They’ll battle it out for their last 16 knockout berth against Napoli at Anfield, on Tuesday.
it wasn’t Salah’s best performance in Liverpool shirt, but it will definitely give him a confidence boost. He was simply lucky to grab his first goal knowing he was in offside position. Roberto Firmino’s 30-yarder was carelessly pushed out by Bournemouth’s goalkeeper Asmir Begovic in Salah’s direction, and Egyptian made the most of it from 12-yards from an offside position. He looked at assistant referee before starting the celebration of his 8th Premier League goal.
His second of the day wasn’t much fortuitous but a calm composed finish. He split apart Bournemouth’s defence to score his second of the night. Liverpool’s third goal was although fortuitous again as it came from Steve Cook’s own back-heel.
Salah then completed his hat-trick with a brilliant individual display after grabbing the ball midway. Firmino after dispossessing Bournemouth’s player passed the ball to Salah and he split apart their defence before rounding off Begovic and poke past Nathan Ake on the line.
it’s pretty strange that Salah has been criticized this season. He still leads Premier League scoring chart with 10 goals and 4 assists. He has 42 shots and 27 of them was on target with 64% accuracy rate. Only Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang matches his scoring record this season, but having less accuracy. Aubameyang has scored with only 56% shot on target.
