Napoli and Inter Milan haven’t given up Serie A title race

Juventus lead Serie A points table with 40 points from 14 games. Their nearest rival and second place Napoli is 8 points behind, whereas third place Inter Milan sits at 12 point difference. It seems Juventus have got no competition and they will easily lift their eighth successive Serie A title, but Napoli and Inter Milan haven’t given up. They are ready to challenge La Vecchia Signora (The Old Lady).

They believe that Juventus have more difficult fixtures coming this month and they can catch Bianconeri. It will start with Derby d’Italia on Friday night, and then they’ll face Torino, Roma, Atalanta, and Sampdoria. Considering all the fixtures compiled this month, it’s really a tough test for Bianconeri.

Inter Milan boss Luciano Spalletti is confident that they can cut the gap at top and it will start with derby d’Italia on Friday night. He told as Football Italia reports, “We must think the teams we face aren’t so strong and can’t move us off track. On my part, there is no surrender to Juventus. Things come to an end when you stop trying and are no longer convinced by your qualities, not when you lose a game.”

There is a big gap at the top and the bad news is that catching them will be difficult, but the good news is this is the first step towards that and it’s in our hands. They’ll lose if they only think about stopping us. We play to beat every team, but I believe it more now. The team are growing now and are becoming more and more complete in terms of attitude.”

Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski also holds the same views. He told speaking to Kiss Kiss Napoli Radio, “We certainly aren’t giving anything up. We just need to think about winning as many games as possible, then we’ll see what happens at the end. Right now Juventus have a more difficult fixture list, so there’s a chance to bridge the gap a little bit, but we need to think about our own matches.”

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri also agrees that Serie A is far from over. He said, “Juve haven’t killed the league. It still has to be won and there’s a long way to go. Are our rivals only playing for second place? Absolutely not because Carlo Ancelotti rightly said Napoli have a great chance.”

He adds, “We also still have to face our rivals, Inter twice and then the second game against Napoli, so there are nine points up for grabs and the gap could be closed, just as it could be extended. There are still many games left to play.”

It came as a response to Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti’s claim. He said, “Juve are very strong and continue to be, but they are not out of reach. Of course, to keep up with them, you have to work miracles.”

Of course, miracles needed if Napoli or Inter Milan wants to compete against Juventus. They are already eight points ahead on the points table and they have yet to lose a game. Looking at the Serie A points table, it looks a daunting task for any other team to stop Juventus. It’s only Juve who can handover their lead to someone else.
