Juventus Vs Napoli preview: Carlo Ancelotti effect or Cristiano Ronaldo is the great boon for Serie A
Serie A is not considered to be a competitive league of this decade because of Juventus’ dominance at the top. Bianconeri have won last seven Scudetto and no one came near to challenge them except Napoli in recent years. However, Serie A is back to their prominence with the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus and Carlo Ancelotti at the helm of Napoli, and the money invested by AS Roma, Inter Milan and AC Milan to strengthen their team. Now, the real question to be answered is who will be the great boon for Serie A: Carlo Ancelotti effect at Napoli or Crisitiano Ronaldo at Juventus?
We will get the answer tomorrow after Juventus Vs Napoli fixture. Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti hasn’t asked for much reinforcement from president Aurelio de Laurentiis. He has worked around the same team his predecessor Maurizio Sarri left for him. The results haven’t been bad for Partenopei. So far so good, their real test of title credentials will be tested tomorrow against Juventus at Allianz Stadium.
Last season, Maurizio Sarri came so close to win the Scudetto after defeating Juventus on match day 34, but they lost the very next game heavily against Fiorentina and played draw against Torino to lose the title by five points.
It’s Carlo Ancelotti time to prove that his experience at Napoli helm will help them to win the Scudetto and Naples fan will celebrate their first Scudetto since 1989/90. He is a tactical genius and very good with fixing problems and finding a solution.
Sarri used to play 4-3-3 formation with his “Sarri Ball” formation, but Ancelotti has twisted the formation with 4-2-3-1 and sometimes playing 4-2-2-2. Marek Hamsik and Dries Mertens are not favoured in Ancelotti’s starting XI and they are favoured more coming off the bench.
So far it has worked for the Partenopei as they have got past the heavyweight challenges of Lazio, AC Milan, and Fiorentina. Juventus will be his biggest test with the limited squad he has. Jorginho’s departure to Chelsea along with Sarri is a big loss to Napoli midfield, but Ancelotti has put great faith in the choices available.
Piotr Zielinksi, Allan, and Amadou Diawara is his preferred choices with the bench strength of Fabian Ruiz, Marek Hamsik, and Marko Rog. He is very clear with his choices up front in Lorenzo Insigne and Arkadiusz Milik. Dries Mertens and Simone Verdi is his first choice off the bench, although he has Jose Callejon and Adam Ounas available as well.
He doesn’t need to tweak his back four and goalkeeper. He will prefer Arsenal loanee David Ospina for this big game as shot-stopper. Kalidou Koulibaly, Raul Albiol, Mario Rui, and Elseid Hysaj is expected to form Napoli’s back four.
On the other hand, Juventus have still to see the best of Cristiano Ronaldo. Until now, others have supported and help him to establish himself in the team and made sure they don’t lose points.
Federico Bernardeschi is one of the name who have really established himself on the right wing replacing Paulo Dybala and Douglas Costa’s name in the starting XI. He even forced Juan Cuadrado to play as right-back rather than right winger.
However, we can’t say Cristiano Ronaldo is not among goals. He has 3 goals and two assists to his name, but his lackluster games in initial weeks helped other to rise on the occasion and prove that Juve is enough in their arsenal when Ronaldo has a bad day. Blaise Matuidi, Miralem Pjanic, and Mario Mandzukic have played well in the supporting role.
The only concern is coach Massimiliano Allegri hasn’t yet find his best formation to play his best players in the team. He played 4-3-3 which didn’t help with Paulo Dybala situation, then he opted for 3-5-2 formation to play Dybala alongside Ronaldo in front line but the duo have failed to link together.
Now, it’s crunch game and Allegri can’t take much risk. He can’t expect every time Federico Bernardeschi saving his ass coming off the bench. He needs to find his best playing XI on the occasion, although he has little to worry because Ronaldo always chooses his best opponent to make his mark. Napoli might turn out to be his favourite opponent and everything can be solved instantly.
Let’s see, who will prove a boon to Serie A this season. it’s Carlo Ancelotti effect or Cristiano Ronaldo’s inclusion in Juventus playing XI.
