Dzeko helped himself with a brace to take his goal tally to 23 Serie A goals, eclipsing ahead of Torino’s Andrea Belotti 22 goals. Giallorossi sits in middle of Juventus and Napoli on points table. Whereas Bianconeri leads with 73 points, Napoli is five points behind Roma at 63. There is huge pressure on Serie A five time defending champion and last season runner-ups to maintain their superiority.
Dzeko also become the first Roma player to score 33 goals in all competition in a season. Giallorossi previous best for a season were from Francesco Totti, Rodolfo Volk and Pedro Manfredini, all having 32 goals to their name. Luciano Spalletti spell at Roma’s helm has really made an impact, and Dzeko is having a phenomenal season. It’s right time for Roma to push them beyond their capacity to clinch a Serie A title after 16 long years.
Juventus need a victory to keep a comfortable gap at top as the season is still open, and Napoli needs point to close the gap with Roma to secure their second place. A five point gap is not a comfortable position for either of them. Although, Napoli victory will make the Serie A 2016/17, a triple threat season, and it will be much more enjoying, but Juve wouldn’t like any slip up at this juncture.
