Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero backs Paulo Dybala to become club icon. He wants Argentine star to stay with Bianconeri for the rest of his career.
Del Piero told Gazzetta dello Sport, “The no.10 didn’t really belong to me. Before me Roberto Baggio, Omar Sivori, and Michael Platini had worn it. Now there is a superstar who has everything to stay at Juve for life, if he wants to.”
“He has raised his level even further at the start of this season, he’s doing exciting things. I’m not just talking about goals, I’m talking about how he can decide matches when he turns it on.
“He also has rare moral qualities. I hope he can do what I did in Turin, because no-one can enter the hearts of the fans like him.”
Dybala joined Juventus from Palermo in 2015, and since then has achieved a new height in his career every week. The Old Lady of Turin fans love Dybala and give him huge applause for his performances.
The Jewel fanbase is increasing every week with his performances. He managed to score 11 Serie A goals in 31 appearances last season, and this season he already has 10 goals to his name in only 7 appearances.
He is the prime target of Real Madrid and Barcelona – Europe’s no.1 and no.2 club respectively, but he did a favour to Juventus renewing his contract with them following Uefa Champions League semifinal victory over Barcelona.
Argentine Jewel is tied with Juventus till 2022, but in football you never know the future. Barcelona chased him in the summer after Neymar’s shocking move to PSG, but his similar style of playing to five time Balon d’or winner Lionel Messi forced them to look somewhere else.
Barcelona settled with acquiring the services of Borussia Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembele for 100m and keeping their high hope alive to acquire Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho. They failed to hire Coutinho on deadline day and Dybala could serve the purpose as replacement.
Although, Dybala doesn’t want to be a shadow of Messi. He is facing the selection problem in Argentina national team due to Messi’s presence and he doesn’t want to face the same situation at club level. Jorge Sampaoli, Argentina national team coach made it clear in his selection against Peru giving Dybala a place on the bench.
Sampaoli said, “As there is no time to work the Dybala-Messi relationship, we should go to something more concrete.”
Juve can smile on these comments because it will take Dybala further away from Barcelona. With increasing dispute between two stars, it’s only Juve who can gain.
