Cristiano Ronaldo opened his Juventus account with a brace

When you hire someone like Cristiano Ronaldo who assures you at least 40 goals per season, the expectations are always that he will start from his very first game. You forget that he’s also human and he may take his time to adapt to his new club. Cristiano Ronaldo took his time to open his duck at Juventus.

Ronaldo scored a second-half brace for Juventus in 2-1 victory over in-form Sassuolo. Someone noticed that he opened his account after playing 320 minutes of game for Juventus, but that doesn’t make sense because he almost got a hat-trick.

Only Ronaldo will be cursing himself that he didn’t finish the day with a hat-trick. He opened his account with a simple tap-in and then finished a good counter-attack in the bottom corner to give Juventus 2-0 lead.

CR7 could have scored hat-trick or scored four goals, if he would have been more clinical with his latter chances. But, he missed chances as he had been missing in his previous games. Football Italia was quick to notice that Ronaldo scored after 28 shots and he had taken the same number of shots to start the scoring chart for Real Madrid last season.

Ronaldo told Sky Sports Italia, “I’m very happy, we started well. Sassuolo defend well, but we put in an intense performance and deserved to win. I really wanted to score these first goals and I’m happy to have found the net. I knew that I was working well and it was only a matter of time. I’m adapting well to Italian football.”

On his missed chance, Ronaldo adds, “This is football. The important thing is that the team wins. Obviously, I was a little tense with all the talk after my move from Real Madrid and not scoring, so there were a lot of expectations, but I thank my teammates for supporting me throughout.”

Juventus maintained their 100% record with the victory, but their only concern is Douglas Costa’s potential ban. Brazilian was sent-off for head butt on Federico Di Francesco and he was also caught spitting on his face in VAR. there are expectation that he’ll have to at least suffer three match ban.
