AS Roma came on top against Lazio in Derby della Capitale
Derby della Capitale once again resulted in AS Roma favoured despite Lazio’s best effort. Lazio were the dominating team in the initial minutes but AS Roma came on top in later minutes and won Derby della Capitale 3-1.
Lorenzo Pellegrini back-heel strike in the 45th minute and Aleksandar Kolarov & Federico Fazio’s second-half strikes helped Giallorossi to finish on top in Rome derby. Lazio must be ruing for their missed chances as they only find the net with Ciro Immobile’s 67th minute strike.
It was all Lazio in initial minutes of the game. Adam Marusic and Ciro Immobile were unlucky with their initial attempts along with Luis Alberto. Roma finally waken up and get more involved in the game after first 20 minutes. Eusebio di Francesco words may have ringing in Roma’s players’ ears when he said that Roma’s season have started after 4-0 victory over Frosinone in midweek.

Edin Dzeko was denied at near post and then Javier Pastore failed to score another back-heel. Immobile again had the chance to put Lazio on front-foot but Robin Olsen finger-tipped to deny him. Florenzi was then denied on another end by Luiz Felipe’s last ditch tackle.
It was a fair half for both teams because both teams have had their chances but Derby della Capitale turned into AS Roma favour just before the end of first-half. Stephan El Shaarawy effort was blocked by Luiz Felipe, but Pellegrini improvised there with his back-heel flick to give Roma 1-0 lead.
Second-half proved to be AS Roma as they attacked more with the comfort of 1-0 lead. Aleksandar Kolarov striked brilliantly from a free-kick and Federico Fazio didn’t wasted his header effort to make it 3-1 for Roma. Ciro Immobile gave some solitude to Lazio with his effort between their goals.
There wasn’t much difference between the both sides shots and possession of the ball. As Roma hit 17 shots, Lazio also had 16 shots. It was only the quality shots on target which made the difference. Roma had 7 shots on target, whereas Lazio only had 4.
Roma now lead with 7 victories in Derby della Capitale since January 2015. They have consistently proved that they are the pride of Rome.
