The host Russia run riot on Egypt to reach to the knockouts
Russia became the first nation to qualify for the knockout stages of FIFA World Cup 2018. The host runs a riot on Mohamed Salah’s Egypt to become the first nation to qualify for the knockout stages. Sbornaya registered an emphatic 3-1 victory over Egypt to book their place in last 16 of FIFA World Cup 2018.
Sbornaya had already impressed on the opening night with their 5-0 victory over Saudi Arabia, but no one had thought about their riot on Egypt. Stanislav Cherchesov’s side has really come as a surprise package of this World Cup.

It was a quiet first-half because chances go begging for both sides, but second-half reminded the Russian riot on Saudi Arabia. They almost emulated their opening night success against Saudi Arabia.
Sbornaya goal fest started with Ahmed Fathy’s own goal in 47th minute, and Denis Cheryshev doubled the lead in 59th minute. Egypt had hardly recovered from 2-0 down and Artem Dzyuba added third to make sure Egypt goes packing their bags.

Mohamed Salah did have a consolation from the penalty spot, but his star status was already overshadowed by Russia’s goal galore. Denis Cheryshev with his goal already matched Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo goal tally and Aleksandr Golovin is on the watchlist of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Egypt only chances to survive in the tournament will depend on tomorrow’s game between Saudi Arabia and Uruguay. If Saudi Arabia defeats Uruguay which is very unlikely predictability, Egypt will have a chance with their victory over Saudi Arabia in their last group fixture considering Russia goes on to win the group with three victories.
It’s highly unlikely and Egypt will have to pack their bags little earlier than they thought.
On the other hand, Russia continues to shut the mouth of their critics and football pundits who thought Russia won’t make it to the knockouts. And they are doing it in style. Spain scored only eight goals in their way to the final during their FIFA World Cup 2010 trophy winning campaign, and here is Russia already scored eight goals in two group games.
The chances are bright for the host nation as they are most likely to finish the group as the winner and they’ll play group B second finished team in their last 16 round considering they beat or draw with Uruguay in their last group fixture.
We saw South Korea reaching to the semifinals in 2002 as a host nation, there is a very good possibility that Russia continues to surprise us and go that far.
