West Ham hit Manchester United hard to show Mourinho exit door

Will Jose Mourinho leave Manchester United himself or will he be sacked, the only question Manchester United worldwide fans would be thinking right now. Nothing is going right for Mr. Specialist, whether it’s off-field or on field. West Ham United rubbed a salt on Red Devils wound as they defeated them 3-1.

Former Lazio attacking midfielder Felipe Anderson gave West Ham an early lead and they never looked back despite Manchester United’s deployment of almost six man defensive wall. Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand was quick to point out on his TV show that it’s disgraceful.

He said as Express reports, “It doesn’t matter how you set up, when the first whistle goes it’s where you are momentum wise, where you’re in terms of setting your team up. Are you on the back foot? Are you on the front foot? Have you got any intensity within your game? Man United didn’t start like that.”

He adds, “Here you see them, you’ve got a back six there almost. It’s crazy. So you think to yourself, everyone in the stadium is thinking Manchester United have come here to sit. That sets a tone for the first-half really and you don’t want to see that if you’re a Man United fan at all.”

Ferdinand is right about at length. You don’t go out to defend against a bottom half team. Mourinho almost parked a bus with three central defenders in Victor Lindelof, Chris Smalling, and Scott McTominay. Along with them Luke Shaw and Ashley Young also started respectively as left back and right-back.

And, when Marouane Fellaini plays in midfield lineup, it’s always about your defensive solidarity. But, United looked far away from being solid defensively. Anderson finds a hole within first five minutes and he was on the scoresheet for Hammers. Before the first-half ended, Andriy Yarmolenko made a good effort which took deflection of Lindelof before going into the net.

There was no escaping from there for Manchester United as they trail by 2-0. Jose Mourinho did made changes in the second-half taking Lindelof off for Marcus Rashford and the youngster did find the goal but it was too late for a comeback.

West Ham United’s in-form striker Marko Arnautovic scored three minutes later to restore the two goal lead. Now, Jose Mourinho is left to think about his future. It’s difficult to see him working as a free spirit for Manchester United any further.

Mr. Specialist hasn’t helped to bring cohesiveness in the group. The players are not happy with his authoritative handling of Paul Pogba, Luke Shaw, Anthony Martial, and any other Manchester United stars.

Manchester United board will have to find a way to stop this malaise environment at the club. They will have to find it out soon, who is the problem in the team? Whether it’s Paul Pogba or Jose Mourinho, they need to get rid of this situation very soon. An exit door is still difficult to digest knowing Manchester United will have to pay £24 million to Mourinho before sacking him. If there is any other way to deal with it in a mutual way, it will be most welcome.
