Tottenham Hotspur’s loyal Harry Kane signs new deal ending major club pursuits
Harry Kane signs a new deal with Tottenham Hotspur today ending major club pursuits of him. The local boy was on the radar of Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich, but he ends their pursuit showing a loyalty to his boyhood club.
Tottenham Hotspur and England captain signed a new six-year contract with the club. It ties him with the club till 2024. It is also understood that he’ll earn £200,000 a week including performance bonuses. His contract extension came after club coach Mauricio Pochettino signed a new deal extending his contract until 2023.

England players rarely go outside of the country to make their resume better. Their big names have always stayed at home. Steven Gerrard stayed with Liverpool, Frank Lampard and John Terry both spent their time at Chelsea, Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand never left Manchester United. Following on to England idols, Kane also chooses to be loyal to Hotspur despite being chased by mega offers from big clubs.
The last man to pursue his career outside of England was their most famed player David Beckham. They have always shown their loyalty to their home club. Big money move and crazy wages have never been able to shake them up.
Harry Kane case is no different. Walthamstow born player is a supporter of Tottenham Hotspur since his young age and today he is their most prized possession. it’s not club capability which has been able to convince him to stay, but it’s his boyhood love.
Spurs fans love him and they even have a song for him. They sing, “He’s one of our own, he’s one of our own, Harry Kane is one of our own.”
It’s good enough to keep you emotionally bonded with the club. Imagine every time you enter onto the pitch and fans singing that song, “He’s one of our own”. He won’t get the same experience anywhere he goes after Spurs. And that always helps in extending a contract with the club.
Kane was delighted to sign a new deal with the club. He told Tottenham Hotspur official website, “I’m really excited, it’s a proud day. Obviously, it’s been a great few seasons and I’m looking forward to the future. I’m looking forward to the new stadium first and foremost and just to keep progressing as a club. It’s been fantastic to consistently get in the Champions League so I’m really excited to have another go at that and with the Premier League and FA Cup, we’ll look to go far as we can. For us as a club, it’s just about keeping improving and we’ll work hard to do that.”
The club has put faith in him and it’s time to pay back. They love each-other and Kane has been vocal about it in the past.
Kane told, “My goal is to play my entire career for Tottenham. We have a fantastic team, a great coach, a professional training centre and we are getting a new stadium. At the moment, everything suits me here and I’m happy.”
“I want to become a club legend. You are always going to face pressure in football. But I’m very strong minded and I know what I want to achieve and taking that no.10 shirt was just another part of that. I was a fan. Tottenham fans see me as ‘one of their own’ and that is genuinely a good feeling.”
We hope that his good feeling continues at White Hart Lane. Going somewhere else in pursuit of money won’t earn him the same respect he has earned at Tottenham Hotspur. He may have moved to Real Madrid, Chelsea, or Manchester United, but these clubs don’t have a sure shot to success. He would have been following the same path there in pursuit of titles which he is pursuing at Spurs.
Kane knows Spurs is only one or two seasons away from winning titles. They have been consistently in top four of Premier League, playing regular Champions League football, and FA Cup glory is only moments away. There is no good in leaving Spurs for some other big clubs.
