Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City: Will Citizens suffer more pain at Wembley?

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City, Citizens suffers more pain at Wembley

It’s very unlikely that Manchester City won’t be the Premier League champion this season. Citizens are only a victory away from clinching the title coupled with a Manchester United’s defeat. If Manchester City registers a win against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley and Manchester United loses against West Brom, they’ll be champion. But considering City’s recent run a victory at Wembley is doubtful, and everyone is asking will citizens suffer more pain at Wembley?

Pep Guardiola’s City has suffered three defeats within a week. They lost twice against Liverpool in Uefa Champions League quarterfinals both legs and suffered a 3-2 defeat in Premier League between those in Manchester derby. You can expect the morale of a side who have suffered three defeats within a week.

Hotspur may have lost 4-1 to Citizens at Etihad, but they are not a side who will give up easily at their adopted home, Wembley. They have already defeat there Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester United.

Spurs are unbeaten in their last fourteen Premier League games. They are relaxed and more strengthen after the return of Harry Kane from injury. A visit to Wembley against Spurs is a complete no-no these days and here arrives Manchester City after three consecutive defeats.

If Guardiola remembers his last season campaign with City, the memory will be pretty vivid in his back of mind. He suffered his first defeat of the campaign against Spurs in the 2-0 defeat. And before that Spurs has managed to do a league double against the Citizens.

It’s difficult to imagine a scenario in which City will be victorious at Wembley after three defeats in a row. Citizens will have to wait for another week to clinch their Premier League title. There can be only suffering for Citizens at Wembley.

However, we can’t rule out a draw and Citizens will be more than happy to end their losing run. However, Spurs wouldn’t like to drop any points at home to strengthen their place in top four. They finished third at the end of 2015/16, second at the end of 2016/17, and they don’t want to go lower down this season. They are currently on the level with Liverpool sitting at 4th with 67 points and they have a game in hand.

Spurs would like to make the most of the situation. They have plenty of arsenals to dismantle City on any given day and it will be a bonus to face the Citizens in their sorry state. Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli can cause lots of problem going forward and City may suffer more at Wembley on Saturday.
