Huddersfield ends Manchester Unbeaten run

Huddersfield Town Association football Club was the first English team to win three consecutive title back in 1926. Their forty-five year absence from top flight wasn’t really something to stomach in, and they proved it by winning 2-1 against twenty time champion Manchester United after 65 years.

Huddersfield got promotion to Premier League in 2016/17 season by winning the 2017 Championship play-off final after  spending 45 years in second, third and fourth tier. It’s a great achievement for “The Terriers.”

It will be a lie if we say Manchester United didn’t see a defeat coming in their last two matches. They have struggled with their injuries and lack of options in midfield has cost them the games. And in the middle of the game against Huddersfield, they suffered another setback as they lose Phil Jones due to an injury.

It forced Jose Mourinho to allow newly arrived 23-year-old Victor Lindelof to hand a game and within eight minutes of former Benfica player arrival on the pitch United finds themselves two goals down. Aaron Mooy netted the opener for Huddersfield and Laurent Depoitre added the second as he punished an awful error from the Victor Lindelof.

It wasn’t the kind of game Jose Mourinho would like to remind in his memory as nothing positive came out of it. There was the only lively moment when Marcus Rashford headed in Romelu Lukaku cross from the right in 78th minute to cut the deficit.

Manchester United got a response back but it was too late to clinch a victory. Red Devils suffered their first loss of the season and it came against a promoted side. On the other hand Manchester City continues to enjoy their position at top with their 3-0 victory over Burnley.
