Only one Manchester team seems to be finding a place in top four, and who it will be depend largely on the result of Manchester derby. Only one point differentiate between both team after the same number of match played, and with Premier League narrowing down, big matches can be break or make your season.
Manchester United is only a point behind Manchester City on points table, but their upcoming fixtures and injury worries is going to ruin their season. They also have extra burden of playing their Europa league Scheduled fixtures. They need the maximum points from Manchester derby if they want to compete in Champions League without depending on their Europa League journey.

On the other hand, Manchester City don’t have much of the challenges remaining in any other competition and their fixtures don’t demand the tiresome nature. If they can take the maximum point from the Manchester derby, it will be an easy ride for them to book their place in top four.
Manchester United tough away fixtures and City’s lesser matches can make the difference
United remaining Premier League fixtures include Man City, Swansea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Southampton and Crystal Palace. None can be taken lightly. Swansea still in relegation zone, they need points to avoid relegation. Arsenal cannot give up their chances to qualify in top four, they have been there for seventeen consecutive years. Spurs is challenging Chelsea for Premier League title, and it will be United toughest remaining game playing away from home. Southampton and Crystal is eyeing to finish in top half of the table as well, Red Devils can’t take them lightly as well.
Manchester City is not alive in any other competition, and Pep Guardiola’s only goal for his first year in charge at Etihad will be to finish at least in top four. Man United, Middlesbrough, Crystal Palace, Leicester City, West Brom, and Watford shouldn’t cause much problem for the Manchester noisy neighbors.
Both side needs to give their best in Manchester derby, although they can’t do so because they’ll be missing their key players because of injury. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones, Chris Smalliong, and Juan Mata are already sidelined for United, and Paul Pogba is doubtful as well. However, Antonio Valencia and Anthony Martial are expected to play part in Manchester Derby.
Manchester City will be also missing their key players in Gabriel Jesus and David Silva. Sergio Aguero also suffered a knock against Arsenal in FA Cup semifinal at Wembley, whereas Fernandinho, John Stones, and Bacary Sagna need to give fitness test before the match.
City secured all three points at Old Trafford back in September, but United have improved since then a lot and they are undefeated in last 23 fixtures in all competition. It won’t be easy for City, but Guardiola’s stats against Mourinho speak volume and he would love to continue his streak against the City rivals.
