Claudio Ranieri is back to Premier League with Fulham
Claudi Ranieri is back to Premier League with Fulham to write another Leicester story. Fulham Football Club chairman Shahid Khan announced today the departure of outgoing boss Slavisa Jokanovic and confirm Cluadio Ranieri as new coach of the club.
Fulham has given him a multi-year contract and they’re expecting him to write another Leicester story. Ranieri led Leicester City to the Premier League title in 2016 outpacing Premier League giants in Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur. Fulham is expecting Ranieri to build same kind of atmosphere and trusting his experience of successfully managing a trouble club to win title.
Currently, Fulham sits at the bottom of the Premier League table with 5 points from 12 matches. Slaviska Jokanovic had done a great job winning promotion to the Premier League for the club, but the results at top division wasn’t favourable to him and it leads to his sacking.
Shahid Khan said as Fulham official website reports, “I wasn’t anticipating having to make this announcement related to Slavisa and wish the circumstances were such that I didn’t have to, but our path this season has led me to make what I know is the correct decision, at the right time, for our players, the club and our supporters.”
Ranieri, on the other hand thanked Khan for giving him this opportunity. Former Leicester City boss said, “It’s an honour to accept Mr. Khan’s invitation and opportunity to lead Fulham, a fantastic club with tradition and history. The objective at Fulham should never be to merely survive in the Premier League. We must at all times be a difficult opponent and should expect to succeed. This Fulham squad has exceptional talent that is contrary to its position in the table. I know this team is very capable of better performances, which we will work straight away as we prepare for Southampton at cottage.”
Fulham will play their next match against Southampton on 24 November after international break. They are three positions ahead of Fulham and have only two points more than them. Claudio Ranieri has chance to get something to cheer for Fulham with a victory against Southampton and jump to 16 or 17th position.
It will be a morale boosting for both the club and their fans. Ranieri will also get the immediate backing and this season survival in Premier League may result in next season’s title chase; who knows? There might be another Leicester story in making….
