India revived a great rivalry beating Pakistan in SAFF Championship semifinal

We all know about our great rivalry with Pakistan in cricket, but it’s time to revive our rivalry in football. We have had great success in hockey and Kabaddi, enjoyed a great spell with cricket, now it’s time to enjoy football. Indian fans haven’t got the opportunity to cheer India loud in a game against Pakistan in cricket from quite a long time, football given them the opportunity to rejoice that moment again.

India beat Pakistan 3-1 in the SAFF Suzuki Cup semifinal to book their place in the final. Indian national team coach Stephen Constantine hasn’t brought his first team on this tour and still young guns are a game away from winning the SAFF Championship title.

Manvir Singh double and birthday boy Sumeet Passi goal helped India clinch a great victory over their traditional rival. It helped India to seal a record 11th final of SAFF Championship.

It was a heated atmosphere as always in any game against Pakistan and both side ended 0-0 at the end of first-half. Second-half brought a great success for India as Manvir Singh quick fired a double within 20 minutes of the game restarted. Sumeet Passi put an end to the game scoring third for India in 84th minute.

In the final minutes of the game both team reduced to 10 men as it is a familiar case in every big rivalry of the game. Lallianzuala Chhangte and Mohsin Ali were send-off respectively from their teams. It helped India to maintain their cushion of 3-0 lead. Pakistan only finds a consolation in Hassan Bashir’s 88th minute strike.

Now, India will play final against Maldives with the high hope of lifting the trophy for the 8th time. India is the record winner of the regional trophy since it is started in 1993. Blue Tigers will play Maldives in final on 15 september at the same venue, Bangabandhu National Stadium, Dhaka to defend their title.
