Thomas Meunier, the unlikely hero in star studded PSG side
In a star studded Paris Saint-Germain side it’s difficult to imagine an unlikely hero. PSG boasts of stars like Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Angel Di Maria, Edinson Cavani, Dani Alves and Marco Verratti, but it was Thomas Meunier who earned all the three points for the Parisians against lowly side Dijon FCO.
PSG struggled against Dijon in initial period due to the absences of their first team players. Edinson Cavani, Marco Verratti, Layvin Kurzawa and Thiago Silva were missing from the initial lineup and it needed someone to step up. Thomas Meunier emerged as the unlikely hero who scored both the goals for the Parisian in 2-1 victory.

Neymar wasn’t near his average play, Mbappe was missing the chances all day long, and in this unlikely situation Meunier finds himself on the scoresheet in 70th minute. He poked the ball home after Julian Draxler shot was blocked and it felled nicely for him to give PSG lead.
Meunier did give the lead but it didn’t survived. Benjamin Jeannot equalized for Dijon FCO with his thunderous volley from 30 yards. It take Meunier stoppage time to find the winner for PSG to stretch the gap at top to six points. Last season champion Monaco lost 3-2 against Olympique Lyonnais in a thrilling encounter on Friday with Nabil Fekir’s stoppage time goal.
