PSG run a 4-0 rout over St-Etienne without Neymar & Mbappe
Paris Saint-Germain gave rest to their star duo Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr for their UEFA Champions League midweek game against Liverpool. St-Etienne could have sensed an opportunity as PSG star duo were missing from the starting lineup but they never knew that PSG is more than those two charismatic individuals. PSG run a 4-0 rout over them without Neymar & Mbappe.
Julian Draxler and Angel Di Maria made the most of their places in starting lineup. Thomas Tuchel started with usual 4-3-3 formation giving Di Maria and Draxler a go in the absence of Neymar & Mbappe. Edinson Cavani maintained his no.9 role in the formation.
.@LFC’s forthcoming Champions League opponents PSG comfortably beat St Etienne 4-0 tonight without Neymar or Mbappe in the squad. Draxler, Cavani & Di Maria all on the scoresheet. Not sure that tells us much more than we already knew ahead of Tuesday.

Marco Verratti and Adrien Rabiot joined Lassana Diara in midfield, whereas Thiago Silva and Presnel Kimpembe played together as centre-back pairing. Thomas Meunier continued to win his right-back position, whereas new arrival Juan Bernat finds the left-back position. Alphonse Areola started as their shot-stopper.
It looks a good formidable side despite the absence of star duo. It was a difficult first-half as only Julian Draxler finds the net in first-half in 22nd minute, but second-half came with a bang. Edinson Cavani continues with his scoring chart from the penalty spot, whereas Angel Di Maria and Moussa Daiby complete the rout in last 15 minutes of the game.

Julian Draxler revealed as the real star in absence of Neymar & Mbappe. He scored a brilliant header after controlling Di Maria’s through ball with his chest in the air. Di Maria as good as always with his assists and goals filled the void brilliantly left by two of the real stars of the team.
The 19-year-old Diaby also made his impact with the minutes he gets into the game. Thomas Tuchel must be a happy man knowing the job has been done brilliantly by his fringe attack. He can now think about Liverpool’s game knowing he’ll have his key players fresh for the game at Anfield.
