Paris Saint-Germain recovered from defeat against Liverpool with 3-1 victory over Rennes

Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel’s tactics were tested against Liverpool in midweek and it fell apart. PSG did lose the game in the last second of the match but they looked nowhere in the game. They returned to their familiar environment playing in Ligue 1 and recovered with 3-1 victory over Rennes.

Tuchel applied the same formation he applied against Liverpool. He played Angle Di Maria and Neymar both on the same wing causing havoc in the middle of the pitch. The pair didn’t cause the same damage against Liverpool but they did well against Rennes.

Joey Barton branded Neymar as “Kim Kardashian of football” this week, but Brazilian showed some real class on the pitch again. He was influential in PSG victory against Rennes.

However, Rennes got an early goal thanks to Adrien Rabiot’s own goal but PSG recovered back. Angle Di Maria, Thomas Meunier, and new arrival Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scored in his second consecutive Ligue 1 match.

Angel Di Maria and Julian Draxler combined well for PSG’s first goal. Then, Nyman helped Meunier scored PSG’s second and Meunier cross helped Maxim Choupo-Moting to score PSG’s third.

PSG maintain their perfect record in Ligue 1 winning their sixth straight fixture, but the question remains the same, are they ready for Champions League? Liverpool have given them a warning sign and they need to find out are they good enough for Europe?
