Olympique Lyonnais to replace Marcelo Diaz with Moussa Dembele

Only two days left of transfer-market deadline day, clubs have to move fast to grab their targeted players. Olympique Lyonnais is also in a hurry to replace their outgoing forward Mariano Diaz. Diaz returned to his former club Real Madrid as they activated their first option clause in the player contract with Lyon. Sevilla was the front-runner to land the player but Real didn’t allow his player to make a move away. Now, Lyon has a difficult task to replace Marcelo Diaz with Moussa Dembele.

Reports are circulating that Celtic striker is ready to make a move away from the Scottish champion. It also says that Dembele wants a move back to his home country. It’s a very promising prospect for Lyon to approach the player knowing he wants a return home.

Olympique Lyonnais president Jean-Michel Aulas have also dropped a hint to sign Moussa Dembele. He told Lyon official website, “We are working to find a replacement for Mariano Diaz, but we don’t have it today. We are interested in Moussa Dembele. There are other tracks. We came into contact with the player. We discuss seriously. Everything is possible until the end of the transfer window.”

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has also confirmed the news. He told as Telegraph reports, “We don’t want to lose Moussa but something has come up and he and his representatives have asked to explore that, which is natural. I have heard, I’ve read, I’ve seen for the last two years at least 20 clubs linked to him, of which we’ve had on team who have come to us and asked to think about it.”

He adds, “Even this one here, we haven’t had a concrete offer, but there has been contact by the club that is interested, so that tells us they are keen to maybe do something.”

It will be really good investment for Lyon. Dembele is young and France’s very own child. Club fans will interact with him very well and it’s always good sign for a team to have a striker which is home grown.
