PSG great run this season continues as they beat defending champion Monaco 2-1 in a thrilling encounter. Neymar and Edinson Cavani, both find themselves on the scoresheet to earn the victory for the Parisians against the Principality side.
Paris Saint-Germain took their lead to nine points from their three points accumulated against Monaco. Cavani gave PSG the lead and Neymar converted a second-half penalty, before Joao Moutinho scored a consolation for Monaco in final minutes of the game. PSG both goals took their goal tally to 45 in 14 Ligue 1 fixtures with an average of more than three goals per match.
PSG has broken all previous record of goals scored in the same number of matches on previous occasions, and they have the most number of goals scored record in Europe’s top domestic leagues.
Monaco is not looking as good as they were last season. They have lost their sensational teenagers who changed the dynamics of the team last season. Kylian Mbappe is doing great at PSG and his loan spell will be permanent next summer. Bernardo Silva has moved to Manchester City and Monaco’s left over are finding it difficult to compete against the world’s best. The Principality club were semi-finalists last season in Uefa Champions League, this season they are out without playing knockouts.
PSG, on the other hand is flourishing in domestic as well as in European competition. They have scored the most number of goals in Ligue 1 as well as in Champions League breaking previous group stage tally. PSG has already scored 24 goals with a game to spare in Champions League group stage. It earns the Ligue 1 giants accolades from Lionel Messi, who made them favourite to win the Europe’s elite trophy.
