Mario Balotelli arrival in France has shifted the focus from PSG to Nice
On the D-day of Summer transfer window, Liverpool released the controversial Italian striker Mario Balotelli and he joined OGC Nice as a free agent. And, things changed for ‘Super Mario’ in Nice, as he become more nice towards the public of Nice. His tantrums and controversy away from pitch didn’t end as it was reported he threw Pizza on a teammate, but definitely things changed on football ground where it matters most. He has scored six goals for Nice in his five starts, and press is following him more than the Ligue 1 clubs. OGC Nice is followed more closely than PSG. Zlatan Ibrahimovic departure from PSG costs Ligue 1 a huge fortune lost, but thanks to Balotelli press is back to following French domestic league.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic departure from PSG is deteriorating PSG value
Zlatan Ibrahimovic proved, his stature is bigger than a club itself, unless and until, it is Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. PSG has lost its value as France’s best club, as they currently sitting on third position with 16 points, four drift of OGC Nice who dominates the table with 20 points at top. PSG still have big names like Edinson Cavani and Angel Di Maria, but their persona has no match to Zlatan in world football. Zlatan has turned 35 on Monday, but he is still much valuable than Cavani and Di Maria with his presence on the pitch, and the kind of money he brings to a club with his merchandise sell.
Zlatan was consistent and he was leading scorer in France during his four year spell at PSG, and PSG won the Ligue 1 title each of those years. Now, Ibra has joined Manchester United, and he is the king there as well, but PSG has lost its footing in France with his departure. OGC Nice has taken over France’s new club, which is getting much of the limelight recently, and that’s only because an exile and long forgotten Balotelli has joined the Nice bases club.
Balotelli is a player who has experience of playing in Premier League in England, and he is highly rated talented player. His undisciplined approach hasn’t helped him much in taking off the career in right direction, and during his two years stay at Liverpool, he only managed to score 4 goals in 28 appearances, whereas at Nice, he already has 6 goals to his name with only five appearances.
On Sunday, Balotelli snatched a late winner for Nice to defeat Lorient, playing at home in Allianz Riviera and he took his shirt off in celebration to get a booking, and six minutes later, he got another booking to be sent off. Thank god! it was dying seconds of the match, but Balotelli controversy continues as he got his first sending off in France. He is suspended but Nice won’t mind, as he has took them on top of Ligue 1 table.
And, we all know he is a player who is known for his mischievous act, and press follows player like him. Whether it’s goal scoring spree, or Pizza throwing on teammate or lightening fire crackers at team hotel, Balotelli is your man. And, don’t forget referee has got an easy target as well, to pull out cards from his pockets, because it’s Balotelli. Whether you like him or not, you follow him, and there is no doubt, focus in France has shifted from PSG to OGC Nice.
