Kylian Mbappe continues to achieve new heights with PSG after World Cup success
Kylian Mbappe made his first appearance for Paris Saint-Germain after his World Cup success with France national team. The French teenager won tournament’s ‘Best Young Player’ award. He was fresh from his World Cup success and he continues to achieve new heights with PSG. He scored a brace in PSG’s 3-1 comeback victory against Guingamp.
PSG was trailing 1-0 from first-half against Guingamp. Nolan Roux has already given the lead to Guingamp in first-half beating veteran goalkeeper Gigi Buffon. Neymar was lucky to win penalty and bring PSG back into the game with his equalizer in 53rd minute, but it was introduction of Mbappe and his match changing ability which win the game for PSG.
Mbappe scored two late goals to earn a victory for PSG and stole the limelight away from the most expensive footballer in the world. Despite scoring from the penalty spot, Neymar wasn’t at his best. He made some poor choices and make loose passes.
The current generation third best player watched a future Ballon d’Or steal the limelight away from him. His current form and football skills is dwarfing everyone and Neymar may find himself on the podium only to be clapping for Mbappe winning the Ballon d’Or.
The 20-year-old has already made the name for himself with his World Cup performances and winning the World Cup for France. He only needed a consistent backing with the performances at club level and with his performance in first game, he has proved that he is made for higher status.
He was excellent once again with his run and finishing abilities. He scored PSG’s second in 82nd minute from Di Maria’s neat pass and scored an exquisite chip in 90th minute to seal the deal for PSG.
The victory also maintained Thomas Tuchel 100% record in his first two games as incharge. It’s fourth straight season when PSG have won their first two Ligue 1 games.
But, it’s not about PSG’s victory. It’s about Mbappe’s maturity at such tender age. He wants to write his name in history as Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi. He has already gone one step ahead of them by winning World Cup, but he wants to prove that he can be a consistent goal scorer as well like them.
Kylian Mbappe has that hunger that you need to be successful. He only needs to achieve new heights with PSG in coming games and he may the next Ballon d’Or just aged 21.
