Edinson Cavani is only eight short of Zlatan Ibrahimovic record 50 haul goal marks set in 2015/16 season after scoring double against Guingamp. He now has 42 goals from 41 appearances this season for PSG, and with only two seasons left in his current contract, PSG wants to extend his contract for another year.

Uruguayan has been lone rider for the Parisians in front of goals after Ibrahimovic departure, and his 29 goals in 29 Ligue 1 outing speaks the volume. PSG is still in hunt for domestic treble as they have already won Coupe de la Ligue, they are in semifinals of Coupe de France and only three points behind Monaco in Ligue 1.

PSG chief Naseer Al-Khelaifi is no mood to lose his biggest star, although he has turned 30 this year. He will be already 32 at the end of his contract, despite this Qatari investor is ready to renew his contract for an extended year.

Unai Emery side has relied heavily on the South American this season, and no doubt they need more firepower in the team for next season, but attack still seems to be centered around Cavani. He is open to negotiate the terms for his new deal with the club, but his new deal will prove little costly for the Parisians.

Cavani is looking to remove the punishment from the contract for the late arrival after holiday breaks, and wants to manage his certain image rights with the club. Former Napoli man also wants PSG to pay his taxes, which he is eligible to pay now after losing Uruguay expat status. He also wants Parisians to pay for his own project in hometown Salto, Uruguay.

Sporting Director Patrick Kluivert and Naseer Al-Khelaifi don’t want to lose their star man, and there will be an agreement soon as Goal reports. Di Maria situation is not improved although at the club, despite his continuous performance and he is likely to make way next season. Les Parisiens wants to bring players to compliment Cavani and Di Maria is still valued high in the transfer market, it’s highly unlikely El Fideo will be staying in Paris next season.
