Angel Di Maria shines again for PSG as he scored the double against Angers to keep PSG’s title defending alive. Four time defending Champion Paris-Saint Germain registered a 2-0 victory over Coupe de France semifinalist Angers in which Di Maria scored both the goals.
Argentine winger has really improved his performance in the second half of the season, and with his double, he took his season tally to 13 goals and 13 assists in all competition. Di Maria scored a goal in each half of the game. His first came in 28th minute from the free kick awarded to PSG. Di Maria stood on the free kick awarded 30 yard away from the goal post, and delivered brilliantly in top right corner to give PSG 1-0 lead.
Di Maria second came in 84th minute of the game, from PSG brilliant counter attack. He was left completely unmarked on the left and Lucas Moura served him well after playing one-two with Edinson Cavani. He made no mistake in one to one situation with the Anger goalkeeper to hand PSG another victory to put pressure on Principality club who will be hosting Dijon FCO on Sunday.
PSG goalkeeper Kevin Trapp made some good contribution in the game as well. He made a brilliant fingertip save in 72nd minute to deny Angers to get on level terms. Angers also had a ball in the net in 40th minute but the referee disallowed it.
Di Maria is having a great run after heavily criticized earlier in the season. There were rumors that PSG wants to offload him to China for big bucks, but his game has improved a lot since then. He is now directly involved in 16 goals scored by PSG in 2017, scoring 10 and assisting 6 for his teammates.
