Sevilla scored six times, and Espanyol followed them, hitting four strikes as well. It was a match in which the goals were pouring. In every 10th minute of the game a goal came in, and remember it wasn’t a friendly match. Its LaLiga opening weekend, earlier on Saturday evening Barcelona started their campaign at Camp Nou winning 6-2, in an eight goal thriller. And, then in the night Sevilla, Europa league hat-rick winner made their flying start of the campaign against Espanyol.
Sevilla didn’t find the net single time in their midweek match against Barcelona in Spanish Super Cup, they lost Super Cup 5-0 on aggregate, and here against Espanyol they hit six goals in a single match, although they did concede four times as well. It seemed like Sevilla found a team in their opener whom they can humiliate in helping themselves to forget their ill memories of past two weeks. They lost two Super Cup; Uefa Super Cup against Real Madrid and SuperCopa De Espana against Barcelona.
Well, Sevilla may have some exhausted past weeks to forget, but what about Espanyol who scored four times as well. So, let them think, what they were upto, those who watched couldn’t get a better fixture to watch on Saturday night to pour in their beer and enjoy the match, and those who missed simply missed it.
Pablo Piatti started the scoring of the night for Espanyol in 8th minute, but Pablo Sarabia soon made it 1-1 for Sevilla in 15th minute of the game. Then Vietto gave the lead to Sevilla in 22nd minute, and it lasted for only 4 minutes approx. as Espanyol strikes another one in 26th minute with the help of Hernan Perez.
Victor Sanchez added another one in 44th minute for Espanyol to trail Sevilla for only a minute, as Vietto got his 2nd of the night in quick time, just before the half-time. And, from there on Sevilla owned the second half. Vazquez, Yedder, Kiyotake all find the net. It seemed all were doing warm-up for some big matches coming to their way. For Espanyol only Moreno find the net in 2nd half which decides the game in favour of Sevilla with a 6-4 victory.
Sevilla new assigned manager Jorge Sampaoli may have got a result to cheer about, but he must not be happy with the game. But, he should give the boys a little room here to cheer for themselves who had some tiring and disappointing night against the league rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona a week ago.
