Zinedine Zidane has beaten Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid at the greatest stage (Uefa Champions League) numerous time. He denied Los Colchoneros Champions League trophy twice but when it comes to winning at home in domestic competition (La Liga), he still hasn’t pulled a victory at Santiago Bernabeu against them. Zidane is in his third season as Real Madrid coach, and he still hasn’t celebrated a victory at Bernabeu against Atletico. His latest effort to do so in Madrid derby on Sunday evening also resulted in the 1-1 draw. Cristiano Ronaldo gave Real Madrid lead in the 53rd minute, but once again Antoine Griezmann stole the show with his equalizer.

Atletico Madrid is unbeaten in the league against Real Madrid at Bernabeu since 2013/14 season. In 2013/14, Diego Costa earned the close 1-0 victory and from where Los Rojiblancos unbeaten run at Bernabeu continues. Next season, Tiago and Arda Turan made sure their winning run at Bernabeu continues. And, from next season onwards, Antoine Griezmann made sure Atletico continues with their unbeaten run at Los Blancos home.

Griezmann scored the only goal of the match in 2015/16 season, and Atletico completes a hat-trick of victory at Bernabeu in La Liga. After three seasons, Atletico suffered their first defeat against city rival but that also came at Jose Calderon in 2016/17. When they come back at Bernabeu, Griezmann once again denied them their victory. Pepe scored in the 55th minute but Griezmann came to Atleti rescue in the 85th minute.

And, here arrives 2017/18 season. Both of the Madrid derbies ends all square. Real Madrid drew 0-0 at Wanda Metropolitano, then Atletico snatched a 1-1 draw at Santiago Bernabeu. Ronaldo gave a lead to Real but Griezman canceled it out five minutes later. Four seasons and counting, Real is still looking for their first victory at home against their Madrid rivals.
