Julen Lopetegui needs to understand that no one fear Real Madrid without their Gala XI
Real Madrid, the name itself makes very bold acclaims. When you hear Real Madrid, you relate it to the richest club in the world, decorated with big names and of course have won the most prestigious leagues in the world more than any one. And, it certainly seems to be fading away with Julen Lopetegui’s only three months in charge as he tries to makeover Real Madrid team with the youngsters in the squad. Julen Lopetegui needs to understand that no one fear Real Madrid without their gala XI.
I have never heard of a Real Madrid playing XI in which half of the team is unknown to the world. They have always been decorated with gala XI; players who are world renowned. It was gala XI who won Real Madrid three consecutive UEFA Champions League titles. They must respect their culture and the way they build their empire.

No one fear Real Madrid without their gala XI and their new boss Julen Lopetegui needs to understand that quickly. He is trying to makeover Real Madrid team giving lot of time to youngsters rather than playing the best XI he has at his disposal.
Lopetegui is not shying away from resting Raphael Varane as a centre-back to give Nacho more space in the team. He has also rested Casemiro, Toni Kroos, and Luka Modric on certain occasions to give more playing time to Dani Ceballos, Lucas Vazquez, and Marcos Llorente.
Isco and Marco Asensio is already preferred option in Real Madrid’s first choice playing XI. And their latest inclusion is Reguilon, Alvaro Odriozola, and Mariano Diaz in the playing XI.
It’s good choice from Lopetegui to offer more playing time to these young players who are not established names in world football, but he also needs to think about the history and Culture of Real Madrid team.
Their strength lies in opting for a gala XI. A team world can fear after hearing their names on the team list, not a playing XI who wants to establish their names in world football. Real Madrid is not the best place for them to make a name.
Pressure is too much on the players wearing Real Madrid shirt and only established stars can perform in those pressure situations. A single defeat is questioned at the club like Real Madrid or Barcelona, and here they are without scoring a single goal in their last three games.
It might have something to do with the injuries of Isco, Gareth Bale, and Marcelo, the most attacking minded players in Real lineup, but Lopetegui goes further resting the likes of Sergio Ramos and Luka Modric.
Real Madrid playing XI consisted of Keylor Navas, Daniel Carvajal, Nacho, Raphael Varane, Reguilon, Dani Ceballos, Casemiro, Toni Kroos, Lucas Vazquez, Marco Asensio, and Karim Benzema against CSKA Moscow. It is good enough as a team, but it didn’t arouse fear in a team like CSKA Moscow. It’s not a good sign for Real Madrid’s dominance in Europe. They lose 1-0 against CSKA Moscow.
They also lost 3-0 against Sevilla and played a 0-0 draw against Atletico Madrid. How on earth Real Madrid can go without scoring in three consecutive games? it’s a serious issue.
Yes, Cristiano Ronaldo has gone but it shouldn’t have been a big worry. The problem is that they don’t take care of the situation very well. Los Blancos didn’t hire a galactico this season which is due since they hired James Rodriguez in 2014. And complicating the situation, Julen Lopetegui didn’t care much about playing the gala XI left at his disposal.
Former Spain national team manager is giving too much importance to Spanish players in the team. Lopetegui is trying to get rid of big foreign names. He is the manager of Real Madrid but his mentality is still being coach of Spain national team.
He doesn’t want to play Varane, Casemiro, Modric, Kroos or Gareth Bale as his first choice. It’s only his compulsion to play them because he doesn’t want unnecessary criticism for not handling senior players better.
We have never heard of Real Madrid team who lacks top three strikers in their rank. Currently, they have none after Ronaldo’s departure. They have the world’s three best midfielders but he is ruining their career’s last four or five years left in them.
He needs to realize that youngsters will take their time to adapt and Real Madrid have been never in a position to offer that much time. Winning is the only rule here and if you can’t, they won’t show you any mercy.
Julen Loptegui is lucky to have got Real Madrid job without much experience of managing a big football club. But, he must not forget that he won’t be given much time to re-build. He needs results to stay at Real Madrid’s helm. Otherwise, their doors are always open for top dogs to replace him.
