Gareth Bale leads the way to earn Real Madrid 2-0 victory over Getafe

Gareth Bale scored third season in a row on opening day to earn Real Madrid 2-0 victory over Getafe. La Liga giants haven’t gone crazy in the transfer market to fill in the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo, instead they have allowed room for their 2013’s galactico signing Gareth Bale to enjoy that space.

Bale is ensuring that he can lead Real Madrid’s attacking lineup. He has got the support of Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio in forward department, whereas Isco, Dani Carvahal, Toni Kroos, and Marcelo is always there to provide further support.

The only surprise in Real Madrid lineup came in unorthodox selection by Julen Lopetegui. He played Nacho Fernandez with Sergio Ramos as his first choice centre-back pairing. Dani Ceballos was his choice as holding midfielder rather than Casemiro. However, these choices were expected from him knowing his preference for Spanish players.

Luka Modric was once again on the bench as he was in UEFA Super Cup loss. Julen Lopetegui’s lineup clearly suggest that if he has Spanish player available for every role, he’s going to stick with him. And, he’ll have no problem to continue with them as long as Gareth Bale & Co. runs the show comfortably.

Real Madrid registered a comfortable win over Getafe. Dani Carvahal scored the first goal for Real Madrid. Getafe goalkeeper David Soria punched Bale’s cross but failed to clear out of the box, Carvahal sensed an opportunity and headed the ball into the far corner of the net.

After that, Bale hit the crossbar with a diving header. Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure has allowed Marcelo and Bale to form a team, one as a cross provider and another lurking for the powerful header inside the box.

Marco Asensio also hit the post in second-half but before that Bale has already wrapped the scoring chart with his first La Liga goal of 2018/19 season. It wasn’t a powerful performance but Real Madrid has enough firepower to get past Getafe’s defense. Los Blancos will face Girona on second match day.
