Barcelona results against Malaga cost them Laliga title last season

Barcelona lost Laliga 2016/17 title to Real Madrid by three points. They shared the same number of 6 draws, and it was only one more defeat than Real Madrid which costs Barcelona title. And it was Malaga who spoiled Barcelona title defending campaign.

Malaga registered 2-0 victory in April in return fixture as they played a 0-0 draw at Camp Nou in Nov 2016, which left Barcelona mulling over their title credentials. It’s Barcelona revenge time against their title defending spoiler team and Malaga must have that in their mind when they visit them at Camp Nou on Saturday.

Barcelona planned 80 million bonus pay for Lionel Messi

With Neymar’s departure to PSG, Lionel Messi’s demi god status at Camp Nou is flourishing again. He has 11 goals to his name from 8 appearances in the league and he is not eager to slow down. And, especially when it comes to teams who have troubled Barcelona last season, he is hurting them more.

We saw what he did to Juventus in Champions League this season after they eliminated Barca last season in last eight ties. He was brutal against the Turin giants and he is not going to pray any mercy on Malaga.

Barcelona accumulated only point from the possible six against Malaga last season and it cost Catalans title. They are not going to make the same mistake again. Last season it all started at Camp Nou, when Blaugranas failed to score and Malaga walked home with a point at Camp Nou. And in return fixture, Malaga registered a 2-0 victory at La Rosaleda with goals from Sandro Ramirez and Jony Rodriguez. However, it was Neymar’s sending off in 65th minute which causes Barcelona trouble and playing with ten men Barcelona finds difficult to break the deadlock.

This time Neymar is not around and Barcelona have a very disciplined squad. Ernesto Valverde is very calm at the touchline and Messi makes sure there is no panic in Barcelona camp. So, panic in Malaga squad is inevitable and they know they need to pay off for their last season success against them.

Barcelona is still undefeated in the League, although they lost two points against Atletico Madrid at Wanda Metropolitano last week. They played a 1-1 draw thanks to Luis Suarez late header, but many believe it wasn’t a point lost, it was a point earned.

Camp Nou wouldn’t like Malaga to walk away with the points this season as well and Barcelona will have to make sure the crowd doesn’t go crazy. Malaga is currently sitting at the bottom of table and if they register a victory against the table toppers at their home, it’s going to ruin Barcelona’s image.

Barcelona can’t afford any setbacks against Boquerones and they need to grab maximum point from this fixture. It’s their revenge time against last season title spoiler and Messi & Co. must take a good care of it.
