Reports in Spain says Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann is looking out for his new destination and Barcelona would be his likely destination. The 26-year-old French star contract currently has a buyout clause of €200 million, whereas it will be €100 million if he chooses to move away after 1 July, 2018.
Mundo Deportivo reports, “The Catalan Club expressed its interest to Griezmann and he received it with pleasure. Playing with Messi, Suarez and Iniesta motivates him. In addition, he wants to take a leap forward and Barca represents him. Thus, the contacts between the parties have been advancing, the negotiations have been on track until reaching a compromise between club and footballer and all this has been reflected in a principle of agreement.”
French website Le10Sport reports yesterday about the principle of agreement between Griezmann and Barcelona. Le10Sport said that a five year agreement is on the horizon, of course, making it clear that this has yet to be transferred to documents that can’t be written now.
Operation is considered well on track from the Barca because it has the will of the player and having a buyout clause only to pay to Atletico after July 1, 2018. It was at the end of the last season that Blaugranas considered to sign Griezmann, but Rojiblancos raised the buyout clause of the player as they suffered FIFA sanction.
Barcelona’s technical staff didn’t rule out Griezmann operation, but postponed it for a year. Now, the Barca technical committee considers that they must have four strikers of the highest quality in any case of emergency, as this season has happened with Ousmane Dembele. Messi, Suarez and Dembele haven’t played much of the game together to create magic, but Griezmann move would help Barca to grow strong at front.
