FC Goa is not having much luck this time as they loses second game in a row of Hero ISL season 3
Last season Indian Super League finalist FC Goa are not enjoying success this season as they have enjoyed in ISL 2. FC Pune City beat FC Goa 2-1 to register their first victory in ISL 3, which costs Goa their second consecutive defeat. Pune City FC’s Momar Ndoye scored a last gasp goal to secure his team first win in the Hero Indian Super League football at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa on Saturday.
Ndoye had a night to remember as he struck the match-winner in the 90th minute of the game. Earlier, FC Goa’s Rafael Coelho scored in the 33rd minute to cancel out Pune side’s 25th minute lead taken by Arata Izumi.
FC Goa dominated the second-half of the game, but failed to convert chances into goal, as they suffered second defeat of their new campaign in as many matches. Zico’s boys need to be more clinical with their finish as they are with their passes. In the first half, Pune had more control and better ball possession. Their defence looked solid and kept hosts mostly away from dominating in their box. Jonathan Lucca fired a shot from the top of the box from a quick build up and the ball hit the post after brushing the hands of diving keeper Laxmikant Kattimani and the rebound came to Arata Izumi who slotted home in the 25th minute to give the lead to the visitors.
But, FC Goa equalized soon in the 33rd minute, when goal-keeper Kattimani launched a long ball from his own half for Jofre Gonzalez who headed the ball towards Pune’s box. Rafael Coelho got the better of Gouramangi Singh and slotted the ball into the Pune net to make it 1-1 for homeside.
Coelho had another chance to put his team ahead in the second-half,but he shot straight into the hands of Pune keeper Edel Bete in the 54th minute. Goa continued to put pressure on Pune defence and substitute Romeo Fernandes did have the chance to win the game but he shot wide off the target from close range to perish all hopes.
Goa could only blame their luck and not so clinical finish, as Pune found the winner from a counter attack in the 90th minute to add more trouble to the already frustrated Goa side. Lucca opened the Goa’s defence with a through pass to Ndoye who got the better of Lucio and then his clinical left-footed strike found the far corner of the net.
