Atletico de Kolkata to avoid the mistakes of ISL 2 semi-final

Atletico de Kolkata vs Mumbai City FC,,semifinal,Diego Forlan, Iain Hume,Sunil Chhetri

On Saturday, Atletico de Kolkata will host Mumbai City FC at Rabindra Sarobar Stadium, for the first leg of the Hero Indian Super League season 3 semi-final match between them. Atletico de Kolkata is the only team to reach at semi-final stage in all three edition, but last season ATK made the mistake of conceding three goals in first leg, which led them to lose the final spot at the expense of Chennaiyin FC.  Chennaiyin won the ISL2 semi-final 4-2 aggregate, and eventually become the champion. But, this time under new manager ATK must be cautious to avoid the mistakes of ISL2 semi-final, knowing it’s a two leg game, tie shouldn’t be finalized in the first-leg itself, and no way in the favour of visitors.

Although, visitors MCFC have already defeated their host in the league match, when they last visited at Rabindra Sarobar. MCFC is the only team who has snatched a victory at their home turf, and they must be thinking, they can emulate the feat again. But, it’s not easy to register a victory at Kolkata, every time you visit them, not even if your squad boasts of Diego Forlan in your side. Forlan did score in his last visit to the football capital of India, and he must be ready to put his name on the scoresheet again, and why not it’s an important match for his team. They have first time reached to this stage, and they need their all guns firing.

On the other hand ATK will have a revenge in mind, they would be looking forward to teach Mumbai City FC a lesson. In the meanwhile, they will be forgetting, it’s a two leg tie and Mumbai is in an advantageous position, because they will be playing the 2nd leg at home. And, Mumbai has become stronger after Sunil Chhetri inclusion in the squad, Diego Forlan and Sony Norde already dominate in their lineup. Forlan has already broken the heart of Atletico de Kolkata supporters once this season, and he won’t mind doing that again. Whereas Atletico form at home this season is also a concern, they haven’t manage a win in last six home games, playing five draws and losing against their semi-final opponent, their only home defeat of the season.

ATK has heavily relied on his foreign players, and once again they will bank on their foreign resources. They are a very balanced team, and if they will be cautious, they can take advantage from their home leg. Helder Postiga and Iain Hume will lead them at front, and not to forget they have the best defence in the ISL. They have only conceded 8 goals in the tournament, and they are at semi-final stage. Javi Lara and Sameehg Doutie will also give a boost to Atletico lineup, their only concern is Arnab Mondal who is doubtful because of calf muscle injury.
