FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 quarterfinals stage takes place today. Mali and England become the first two semifinalists as they beat Ghana and USA respectively. Mali beat their African counterpart Ghana 2-1, whereas England made their first semifinal berth in U-17 World Cup with a 4-1 victory over USA.

In the day match Mali and Ghana were up against each other in an all African quarterfinal match. It was the repeat match of U-17 African Cup of Nations final taken place in Gabon, where Mali successfully defended their title. And, Mali continuing to prove their supremacy over the Black Starlets set their foot forward in U-17 World Cup semifinal. Hadji Drame and Djemoussa Traore goals helped Mali secure the victory, although Kudus Mohammed cut the gap with his penalty for Ghana.

In the night quarterfinals fixture, USA and England were up against each other for the very first time. England cherished this moment with a thrilling 4-1 victory over USA to book their place in U-17 World Cup semifinal for the first time. Liverpool’s teenage boy Rhian Webster scored a hattrick to take England into the semifinals where they’ll wait for the result of Germany vs Brazil match to find out their semifinal opponent.

Spain will face Iran and Brazil will face Germany tomorrow in the remaining quarterfinal fixtures. There are still teams left in the tournament representing Asia, Africa, South America and Europe, and it’s good for the development of football.
