Zinedine Zidane rumoured €200M move to Qatar national football team

Egyptian businessman Naguib Sawiris tweet is making headlines about Zidane’s Qatar move claims

It’s only a week today and there may be few hours left in completing a week when Real Madrid lift their 13th UEFA Champions League title under Zinedine Zidane. They defeated Liverpool 3-1 in the final to lift Europe’s most prized possession for the third time in a row. And within a week, Real Madrid boss leaves the club managerial job. A day later, we have the news that he is moving to Qatar for the most lustrous job.

There are news circulating that Zidane has been offered a €200M job to manage Qatar national team for four years. Qatar will pay the Frenchman €50M a year to prepare them for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 20221.

Naguib Sawiris tweeted on May 31, “Zidane joining Qatar to coach national team for World Cup 2022. 50m a year over 4 years … money talks?”

Qatar will be hosting FIFA World Cup 2022 and as a host, they want to prove a point to the world. And who could be a better manager than Zinedine Zidane to lead the team? The Frenchman has won nine titles in his two and half year with Real Madrid.

He is three consecutive UEFA Champions League winner, two Club World Cup, two Super Cups, Supercopa de Espana, and a La Liga trophy winner. Qatar won’t need a more reputational coach to lead their side.

Naguib must be joking but it got the timing right. The world is waiting for Zidane’s next move and here he drops the hint. The size of the deal doesn’t look real for a coach, but Zidane is a special one. Who knows there must be something brewing between Qatar officials and Zinedine Zidane.
