Cristiano Ronaldo was rested against Las Palmas alongside many players who traveled with their national side during the international break. Isco, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, and Toni Kroos were also rested. The onus was on Real Madrid’s fringe player alongside some senior members in Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale, and Luka Modric. Thankfully they delivered and registered a 3-0 victory over Canary Islanders.
Karim Benzema was handed captain’s armband. Frenchman leading from the front scored from the penalty spot in his 400th appearance for the club. And, before that Gareth Bale has already given Real Madrid lead with his superb strike.

Gareth Bale added another one to his name in second-half with another penalty of the night. Welshman converted the penalty in the 51st minute to grab a comfortable 3-0 victory for Real. The result proved, no Ronaldo, no problem for Real Madrid…

They have enough in their Arsenal to win games. however, if Ronaldo would have been playing it would have helped him to improve his personal tally of goals. The two penalty awarded would have been converted by him and he’d have taken his goal tally to 24.
Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez did a good job as well in the middle. Today, Real played like a team sacrificing for each other. Benzema has had the chance to go on the scoresheet more often but he chose to pass to Bale. Bale also could have grabbed his hat-trick but luck wasn’t with him.
Real Madrid had a good rehearsal before the Uefa Champions League quarterfinals tie against Juventus in the midweek. It would have been better if their best players have had played, but it was also important to give them rest.
