Sevilla were on front-foot as they lead 2-0 for 87 minutes in the game. Andalusians were so close to ending Barcelona unbeaten run but in the end, they let go of their lead. Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez punished them for their latency in closing minutes of the game and earned a dramatic 2-2 draw for Barcelona.
Andalusians started very well. They constantly threaten Barcelona defensive line as Luis Muriel and Joaquin Correa’s pace was too difficult for Barcelona back-four to contain. Their constant threat allowed others to play up the pitch as well and Franco Vazquez utilizes the space created in Barcelona’s defensive half.

Joaquin Correa provided the assist to Vazquez in the 35th minute and he made no mistake from inside the box to tap-in a goa. Vazquez gave the lead Sevilla needed to make Barcelona feel inferior without Messi. Hosts clearly dominated the play in first-half despite Coutinho, Pique, and Luis Suarez’s half chances.
Sevilla continuing on to keep the pressure alive on Barcelona push themselves hard. They benefitted from their attacking play as they found themselves 2-0 up in the 49th minute. Luis Muriel added the second one with his right-footed shot to give Sevilla 2-0 lead.
La Liga needs to ban Messi and make him play for only 30 mins a game, thats the only way anyone has a chance.

Now Barcelona were clearly on back-foot. They needed to overcome the 2-0 deficit and their best player wasn’t on the pitch. Lionel Messi arrived on the pitch replacing Ousmane Dembele in the 57th minute. It took some time for him to adjust to the game but his presence made the difference.
Messi came real close to scoring in the 75th minute but his shot goes wide on left. In between that Luis Muriel and Luis Suarez had many half chances to put their respective teams on the scoresheet, but they failed miserably. However, Muriel missed chances wasn’t hurting Sevilla because they were already 2-0 up, but Suarez missed chances were definitely a pain for Barcelona.
The Uruguayan continues to battle it out to prove his mettle. Finally, he grabbed the goal he was seeking in the 87th minute. He headed in a loose ball from near side of the post on the left top corner. It was good enough to bring a fight in Barcelona and with Messi on the pitch everything was possible.
A minute later, Messi brought his A-game as he got assisted by Philippe Coutinho. Messi received an unmarked ball outside of the box and that’s all Barcelona talisman needed to change the game. His left-footed shot goes into the bottom left corner to earn Barcelona 2-2 dramatic draw.
