Frenkie de Jong is most likely to land to PSG for €75 million next summer
In an exclusive coverage of The Netherlands newspaper De Telegraaf, they write “French commit a robbery in Amsterdam”. It was related to Ajax’s most sought after player Frenkie de Jong’s potential move to Paris Saint-Germain. The 21-year-old star has been heavily linked to FC Barcelona in past transfer windows, and teams like Manchester City, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Bayern Munich were also after the player but he’s most likely to land to PSG for €75 million next summer.
De Telegraaf reports, “A delegate from PSG, where the star players like Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are also under contract, made a robbery in Amsterdam on Thursday and would like to put the sum of 75 million euros requested by Ajax director Marc Overmars on the table.”
The report also adds, “Overmars confirmed the visit of the French, but said that there is no final agreement yet and that more clubs have shown interest. It also adds that PSG star Kylian Mbappe has asked his club management to bring in Frenkie de Jong at the club.
Mbappe was impressed by De Jong performance in their recent international meeting during the match between Netherlands Vs France. They shared contact between them and PSG have no doubt that their most celebrated star has an eye for a good player.
They made a move and contacted Ajax’s director Marc Overmars for the player. However, the final decision will be on the player and his existing club.
If PSG move materialized, Frenkie de Jong will bring Ajax’s most profitable transfer business in the history. Ajax’s most expensive player till date is Davinson Sanchez, who made a €40 million move to Tottenham Hotspur in summer of 2017.
Why Barcelona stopped chasing the player has become a mystery. They were following the player from last few windows but I guess they wanted him to get more matured at Ajax itself. They were always targeting him for the summer of 2019, now they have missed the bus.
On the other hand, Manchester City seems to be reluctant because of UEFA’s Financial Fair Play investigation. However, PSG is also on UEFA’s radar. Let’s see how the deal materializes next summer. There is no doubt that Frenkie de Jong is transfer market darling and everyone wants to grab him, but who it will be remains the question.
