FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is scheduled for a prolonged Pre-Christmas break

It’s pity that we won’t have a good summer to keep our football fever, not even after the four years wait. On one hand, FIFA gives us the best FIFA World Cup in Russia 2018, then they disappointed us with confirming Qatar 2022 World Cup dates for winter. FIFA president Gianni Infantino announced today that FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will be played during Nov 21 and Dec 18, 2022.

It’s going to be a prolonged Pre-Christmas break. The reason is quite simple because it will be difficult to play in the heat of summer in Qatar. Players were having difficulty playing in Russia even in the heat of 25 to 30 degree celsisus, Qatar’s average temperature during the day in June & July will be at least 35 degree Celsius and maximum can go to 50 degree.

Imagine how difficult it will be for European players. They may start sweating even before the game starts during National Anthem rituals. Football is not a game which can be played in the heat of 50 degree, considering this FIFA has made a good decision.

But, it’s not going to do any good for association countries domestic football. They’ll have to release their player in the middle of a season for World Cup which is always a hectic tournament. And in Qatar, it’s going to be more hectic being reduced the time to 28 days to complete the tournament.

European Clubs have never been a big fan of international friendly disrupting their team, and imagine how difficult it will be for them to releasing the player in the middle of a season for a whole month. Players may suffer a long term injury considering they’ll have to play matches every three or four days.It will take a toll on players fitness.

How association nation will organize their team is also creating confusion. In summer, they always have an advantage getting their team together at least 15 days before the tournament start. They at least have the time to work with the given team and practice them in their new environment. But with winter break, they won’t be able to get the best out of their team knowing clubs are not going to release players early.

Players arrived to play World Cup may not be in good shape, knowing they have already taken a toll with their hectic schedule playing in domestic leagues. Let’s see how it planned out, but it’s definitely not going to be a better experience of World Cup.

Domestic football seasons are always about dwelling into your favourite teams success, and not about international football distraction. World Cup has higher importance than domestic football, but it’s certainly not going to create that football World Cup fever which FIFA World Cup has been used to create in long summer break. However, we can make exception if it’s only for one time.
