Belgium completes France unfinished business knocking out Brazil
France have already eliminated three of South American teams and they must be looking forward for Brazil in semi-final, but Belgium completes their unfinished business knocking out Brazil a stage earlier. None of the South American teams are now alive in the tournament and Belgium will face France in the semi-final.
It really seemed that France have a different mission in this World Cup. They really run rout on all South American teams; eliminating Peru at group stage, to tremendously get past Argentina at last 16, and seeing off Uruguay in quarter-final earlier today. Brazil would have been their next target, but thanks to Belgium they won’t have to think about another strong South American team.
Belgium v France in the semis.
England v Sweden and Russia v Croatia tomorrow in the Quarters.
Euro 2018 has been great fun.

However, Belgium won’t be an easy challenge. Red Devils have shown in this tournament what they are really made of. They had a difficult game against Japan. They were losing 2-0 after an hour, but they turned it around winning 3-2 in normal time. And, now with a convincing victory over Brazil, they are a formidable side.
Dark horses have really turned into favourite eliminating the all time favourite Brazil. Eden Hazard and Kevin de Bruyne really has reserved their best for this game and the duo today shown how much damage they can do to the very best sides.
Brazil were little unlucky with conceding first goal from set-piece as it came off Fernandinho’s arm and resultant in an own goal, but De Bruyne’s second was a beauty.

It wasn’t a great first-half for Brazil, but they really come strong in second-half. Only some resilient defending and Brazil’s unlucky moment take the game away from them.
Gabriel Jesus thought he had a penalty when Vincent Kompany clearly fouled him, but VAR decides other way. However, it was a point of discussion knowing Kompany really fouled there. It was also Jesus last time to produce something for Brazil, because he was soon replaced by Douglas Costa.
As soon Costa came on field he dazzled with his quick dribbling feat. He forced Courtois to be alert and making few good saves in quick succession. However, on the other hand, Eden Hazard could have seal the match when De Bruyne assisted down the left. Hazard shot wide of the right.
Brazil’s hope come alive only after Renato Augusto comes in place of Paulinho. Within minutes he was on scoresheet with Coutinho’s brilliant cross inside the penalty area. Barcelona playmaker had a great vision to find Augusto and he provided a great ball in and Augusto headed low in the right corner. Courtois had no chance to make a save. It was 1-2 and there was still time for Brazil to equalize.
Two minutes later, Firmino has the chance to equalize but he strikes high from 10 yards out with his left foot, after making a good turn. Neymar was definitely not happy with Firmino, but he really knows that he took the best chance.
Augusto again had the chance to left the term again with Coutinho’s assist but this team his shot goes inches wide. Four minutes later Firmino, Neymar, and Coutinho together almost weaved the magic, but Coutinho couldn’t believe how poorly he shot the ball. Firmino made a great pass to Neymar who was all alone to the left, Neymar made a good forward run before teeing up on-rushing Coutinho, but he really let himself down hitting it 10 yards out of the right post.
Time was running out for the South American giant, and there was clear urgency. They needed a goal but it wasn’t coming and every time Belgium has the ball they look threating knowing Brazil are pushing bodies forward.
Brazil had their final chance of the match from a great work Douglas Costa in stoppage-time. Costa burst inside the penalty area with his dribbling run and made a great pass to Neymar in dangerous position outside the penalty area. Neymar has a brilliant attempt on goal only to be denied by Courtois finger-tips in dying moments of the game.
It’s ends the journey of Tite’s highly talented Brazil side. Belgium second golden generation marched ahead to book their place in second semi-final of the World Cup. They will face France in semi-final match on Tuesday at Saint Petersburg Stadium.
