Euro 2016: Portugal ended Wales dream run

Portugal ended Wales dream run with a convincing 2-0 victory over them to book their place in final for the 2nd time. Wales were missing their key players in the lineup and it clearly shown in the game how badly they missed them. Aaron Ramsey didn’t play the game due to his 2nd booking against Belgium and it costed Wales the match. Portugal registered their win with Nani and Ronaldo both scoring goals for the Portugal.

it was an even match except the three minute slot where Wales lost their focus and Portugal make the most of it. Ronaldo scored header in 50th minute and Nani made it 2-0 in 53rd minute. Wales dream run ended in Euro 2016, and they should have no regret because they have already achieved a lot reaching for the first time in a major tournament semifinal. ofcourse, everyone wants to achieve more and there is no proud in coming 2nd, 3rd or 4th but it will be the Wales team who will be remembered for a long time.


“We’re massively disappointed but we’ve got to be proud of ourselves. We’ve given everything. We tried to enjoy the experience. We want to thank the fans, who have been incredible. We tried our hardest and we’re sorry we couldn’t get to the final. They shut up shop quite well. We have no regrets. We have to be proud of what we’ve achieved.” Bale said after the match.

Portugal reached to their 2nd final in Uefa European championship. They lost to Greece  at home 1-0 in 2004 final when Ronaldo was only 19 year old. This time Ronaldo is a grown man, he won’t let it go away whether it will be France or Germany reaches to the final. Ronaldo proved his point with his header to open the account for Portugal that he is still good enough and superior to the newly arrived Gareth Bale in the frame. He set up Nani as well to score within three minutes to make it 2-0 for Portugal.

Wales had dared to dream. They were not supposed to beat Belgium- the Europe no.1 but they did beat them in the quarterfinal, and the manner of it, had glided their status. But, one man loss changed the whole dimension and they tasted a defeat against Portugal. Aaron Ramsey was certainly missed in the game, if he could have played the result would have been different. Portugal ended Wales dream run, now it’s their time to show what they have got to defeat the very best out there in the final.
