Euro 2016 : France sent crazy Icelanders home

France sent crazy Icelanders home and ended their fairy tales in Euro 2016. France came out strong and defeated them heavily winning 5-2 in their quarterfinal match. Iceland dream run in Euro 2016 after a big win over England in knockout came to an end. They won’t go further and at least spectators won’t have to be in debt anymore to watch a match.

France ripped apart the Iceland defence, they scored four goals in first half itself. Giroud served himself a brace and Griezmann scored his fourth to be in race of golden boot, while Pogba enjoyed scoring as well. Dimitri Payet, the Euro 2016 emerging star scored his 3rd of the tournament as well. France confidence got a new boost before facing the world champion Germany in semifinal on 7th of July in Stade Vélodrome, Marseille.

Iceland were ripped apart they shown their character as well. They scored back in 2nd half with Sigthorsson and Bjarnason to make it 5-2, and able to decrease the deficit in scoreline. Icelanders must not have any complain with their team, they deserved an applaud by their country men and they get it. They can go back to their country feeling proud. A country of only 330,000 people defeated the mighty England in knockout, came in 2nd in group F above Portugal which boasts of the best footballer in the world Cristiano Ronaldo in their team.

France deserved to play in semifinal as a host nation. They did it in 1984 as a host nation, when Michel Platini led them all the way to championship scoring 9 goals in the tournament. They will be up against the Germany who have already played a final before final against Italy, which was an epic match. Germany defeated Italy 6-5 (1-1) on penalties in nine rounds of penalty display.

France sent Icelanders home to reduce their debt but it will be a heavy burden on them to prevail against the eagles (Germany). Les bleus will have a tough task ahead, they will have a home advantage but we all know how much it gonna help against Germany.
