Euro 2016: France knocked out the world champion Germany

France knocked out the world champion Germany to keep their title hope alive at their home soil. World champion Germany lost the game 2-0 in their semifinal match against the host France. France will play their second final as a host against Portugal. France will be looking to grab their 3rd Uefa European championship title and second while playing at home.

Germany did pressed France and they were unlucky not to score goals but it was France who rise on the occasion once again with their attacking style of play. Germany once again didn’t look lethal inside the opponent box and they seriously need to find another striking option. Thomas Muller is not working for them, Mario Gomez is not the best out there and Lukas Podolski is not young anymore.

Antoine Griezmann is new Michel Platini of France

Antoine Griezmann is one of the best strikers in the world right now. He scored a brace today to take his tally to six goals in Euro 2016. Michel Platini scored nine goals in a single Euro 1984 edition and led his team to win European championship at home. Griezmann has scored seven and he still have final left to play. The kind of form he is in, he can score a hatrrick and equal Platini record. It took Ronaldo four European championship to equal him and here is Griezmann looking to emaluate his feat.

Antoine Griezmann is new Michel Platini of France. Platini scored 9 goals to led them to win their first major tournament, and it was special because they did it at home. Griezmann is doing the same for France in Euro 2016, and he came to rescue for France when they needed him the most. He currently leads the golden boot race with six goals and he has final left to play.

Portugal must be worried because they are going to play against the best team of the tournament France, when they will meet them in Sunday’s final at Stade de France. Portugal do have Ronaldo and Nani in attack, and a new kid Renato Sanchez in the horizon, but will they be able to cope up with this new insurgent French team infornt of their own crowd is a big ask.

France is going to be the favourite to win the tournament and Portugal needs some heavy luck once again to prevail them. But, luck has been their favourite weapon in this tournament and it won’t be a surprise if Portugal managed to win final somehow. Ronaldo might be playing his last European championship and he must be desperate to win something for Portugal but so was Messi.

France has knocked out the world champion Germany and if they can’t win against Portugal in the final infront of their home crowd, it will be a sin they must not be ready to commit. Michael Platini name is written in history for 1984 Euro, zinedine zidane name became greatest with his 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 and Antoine Griezmann should put his name in history with Euro 2016.
