Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City continues their dominance at top beating Swansea 3-1 in their sixth Premier League fixture. City is leaving no room for other competitors to grab the top spot as they continue their supreme form. They are unbeaten since Guardiola have taken the helm at Sky Blue’s man, and now with Sergio Aguero presence, they are tough nut to crack. Aguero was missing from City’s squad in last three match, despite this City managed to pull three important victories against Manchester United, Borussia Monchengladbach and Bournemouth, and not to forget the EFL Cup third round victory against the Swansea.
Aguero missed three matches, but he doesn’t look short of form, he continues from where he left. He enjoyed his comeback with a brace, and Raheem Sterling continues to improve under Guardiola as he scored on Saturday as well in 3-1 victory over Swansea. Aguero gave the lead to City in only 9th minute, but Fernando Llorente replied back for Swansea quickly in 13th minute to make it even. It was all set for a draw till an hour mark, but Swansea made a deadly mistake to give away penalty which helped City to maintain their 100% record of the season, and taking their unbeaten run to 10 games this season.
Aguero started from where he left with a brace
Aguero opened the scoring for City in 9th minute with Bacary Sagna’s pass, which he controlled brilliantly before drilling home. But, that delight was short lived, because Argentine lead given to City was made even by Swansea’s Spaniard forward Llorente, just after four minutes of his goal. Llorente feeded by Gylfi Sigurdsson, made his impact into the game with his brilliant left-footed volley in top corner beating Claudio Bravo.
Match was looking even, and Swansea were looking happy to grab a point from this fixture but things change suddenly. It was a bad challenge by Van der Hoorn on Kevin de Bruyne, which earned penalty for the visitors and Aguero made no mistake from the spot. City were 2-1 up, but they didn’t want to stop there Sterling added third to end any comeback from Swansea.
With this 3-1 victory over Swansea, Guardiola become 2nd manager after Carlo Ancelotti who had the same six game unbeaten record in 2009/10 season at Chelsea helm. City is firing like never before, they have already scored 3o goals this season in 10 fixtures with an average of three goals. But, Guardiola is still not happy with his team performance, and he is not diverted with short lived euphoria, he is looking for more improvement he can make into his side.
As Guardiola said in the interview about Aguero’s performance,“Congratulations for his first goal and for the personality for the penalty, he’s scored a lot of goals in the games, so I am so happy for him,” City’s manager said. “But he knows that I want more. He can play better. He can do other things that is going to help us. I will try to help him to develop his abilities. I want him to be involved in our game, in our process, and keep the ball.
“In the box I cannot help him – he’s going to help us a lot in the box, he’s magnificent. His first control for the opening goal was outstanding, but I want to help him to be a better player.” as The Guardian reported.
