Jurgen Klopp hails Henderson goal as once in a lifetime
The world witnessed Jordon Henderson brilliant play and amazing striking prowess on Friday night when Liverpool defeated Chelsea 2-1. Henderson goal was too good, and it can be the goal of the Premier League season 2016/17. Henderson got his life back at Liverpool with this goal. He was much criticized for his play as a defensive midfielder and not fit for wearing captain’s arm band. But, Reds manager, Jurgen Klopp came to his rescue after his brilliant performance against the Blues. He hails Henderson goal as once in a lifetime moment.
“For sure!” he told Liverpoolfc.com. “If it’s lifetime, it’s OK. I never shot one like this. Pretty good!
“I’m really happy about the goals because they were around set-pieces. [We were] really quick in mind.
“A nice set-piece with Millie and Phil [Coutinho], and the other one was a throw-in to Adam [Lallana], really good movement and then playing the pass back.”
Klopp admitted he never managed to pull a goal like this in his lifetime, in his prolonged playing days. Henderson goal was a stunning strike from more than than 25 yards, and he managed to pull the trigger with brilliant balance and confidence in quick time, giving no time to react to Chelsea. A 25-yard-strike right in the top right corner from Liverpool’s captain gave us the memories of playing days of Steven Gerrard, the club legend. His goal also resembles the goals of Philippe Coutinho who regularly scores goals like this for Liverpool as well.
Klopp was very happy with the performance from his team against Chelsea as he said, “It makes football much more enjoyable when you really feel this togetherness. I’m really demanding to be honest and I ask a lot of them. So when I see how they fight, with the last drop of fuel in their machine, it’s easy to hug them.”
Liverpool will play next Derby County on Tuesday in EFL Cup third round. Firmino and Sakho is back to fitness, and Joel Matip has recovered well from his injury.
