When I remind myself of Bayern Munich 6-0 rout of Borussia Dortmund on the weekend, I’ll say Sevilla manages to minimize their damages. They lost 1-2 against the Bavarian at home but all is not lost. Pablo Sarabia opened the account for Sevilla, but two own goals from Jesus Navas and Sergio Escudero left them their head-scratching heading into the second-leg in Munich.
Sevilla can take something positive for the game. They did a great work defensively and minimizes their damages. If two own goals would have been avoided there would have been chance for them at Allianz Arena next week.

Bayern have pretty much done their job without their players’ contribution on the scoresheet. However, it was their work which forced Sevilla to concede own goals. Sevilla had a great start at Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium and they lived up to the expectation of their fan.
Sarabia opened the scoring for them and they had the lead. It was James Rodriguez pass to Franck Ribery which get deflected by Navas interruption and spin into the net. In the first-half Navas became the victim and then in second-half Escudero was the victim of Thiago Alcantara’s header deflection.
Vincenzo Montella had suffered the criticism of not using his squad properly in the game against Barcelona. This time he chose to start with Wissam Ben Yedder in place of Luis Muriel, but it makes little difference. Bayern walked away with a crucial 2-1 victory and it will be tough for Sevilla to trouble Bavarians in their own den. They have kept their hope alive because the margin is not very big but two away goals conceded without opponent’s real contribution will haunt them in return leg.
