PSG left Liverpool defeat behind putting an astonishing performance against Red Star Belgrade

Paris Saint-Germain needed to bounce back from their opening night defeat against Liverpool. However, 3-2 scoreline marginally differentiate the performance of the both side but Liverpool were certainly the superior team fortnight ago. PSG were criticized that they’re not up to the level of European games. They have got no competition in Ligue 1 because of their celebrity status player but UEFA Champions League demands different intensity in the game which they were certainly lacking against Liverpool. Overcoming the criticism, PSG left Liverpool defeat behind putting an astonishing performance against Red Star Belgrade.

All four attacking players whom Thomas Tuchel has deployed together since overtaking PSG job were on the score sheet as they won 6-1. Neymar scored a hat-trick, whereas Edinson Cavani, Angel Di Maria, and Kylian Mbappe also joined him on the score sheet. Marko Marin finds a consolation for Belgrade to put his name on the score sheet for the Serbian champion.

It was a complete domination from PSG. They have 75% ball possession in the game, and they took 34 shots and 17 of them were on target. You rarely see 17 shots on target for a team.

Serbian outfit were 4-0 down in the first-half itself. A quick Neymar brace coupled with Edinson Cavani & Angel Di Maria heroics put PSG on the acceleration sit. They were 4-0 up and second-half was still to come.

In second-half Kylian Mbappe also joins them on the score sheet before Neymar completes his hat-trick. Thankfully, Marko Murin breaks the deadlock for Red Star Belgrade and PSG failed to maintain a clean sheet at home.

Now, PSG will be hoping that one of them in Napoli or Liverpool lose points in the later game, so that the competition for last 16 berth reduces in the group. Napoli have only one point with them as they played their previous game against Red Star Belgrade 0-0 away from home. A victory over Liverpool at home will kept them in contention for last 16 place, otherwise it will be difficult for Carlo Ancelotti side.
